As announced in autumn 2010, Sampaio Moreira building which is the oldest sky-scraper in Sao Paolo, became the inspiration and residency to two groups of young artists working in different genres of the modern day art. They revitalized the building with their works ranging from painting to sculpture, installations and movies and turned it into a Red Bull House of Art. Now, the third group of artists is ready to unveil their work done within the walls of the oldest skyscraper in Sao Paolo. The names of the participants of the latest collaboration include Ana Silver, Bruno Storni, Felipe Bittencourt, Gustavo Ferro, Renato Pera and Theo Craven.
Now we have another great news to announce: as the third stage of creative work is seemingly over (though real creation never stops), Sampaio Moreira is ready to open its doors to visitors. The admission to Red Bull House of Art is free. The works by the young artists will be on display until May, admission to the exhibition is free of charge.
Sampaio Moreira which was built 90 years ago still incapsulates the spirit of the modernistic era, which has provided inspiration to the young team of artists.
«The architecture of the building really is a great motivator for the creation and participation in this project,» says Ana Silver, a participant of the art project who has used the building as a background for a film noir scene and created drawing frames on the walls of the building.
Brazil was the first country to host the Red Bull House of Art in November 2009 in the central part of Sao Paulo. This year, the project plans to relocate to Portugal, the US, Australia and England encouraging modern day artists to give the second life to iconic buildings through creative works.
