Two are better than one—creative collaborations of leaders from various fields can really benefit the market and the history of the industries on the whole, and this approach to developing new products is most frequently used in the design sphere. This spring sees two beauty giants, Sephora and Pantone, which both focus on colour, combining their expertise and views to create a unique Sephora+Pantone Universe collection centered on the Color of the Year: Tangerine Tango, #17-1463.

“Sharing an affection for how color can transform a face, mood, or even an attitude, this breakthrough beauty partnership will change how you wear, feel and think about color. You’ll be introduced to playful shades that will inspire experimentation and exhilarating new products you’ll impulsively want to sweep on. It will reawaken and reinvigorate your own passion for color—or ignite a new found love,” says the page of the new collection on the brand’s website.
The new limited-edition line includes a number of products such as lipstick, nail polish, eye liner, blushes, faux eyelashes, a make-up bag and many more, with the prices ranging from $68 (for sets) to $18 (for a lipstick) in a vibrant and juicy orange color. The cosmetics brand is also inviting to shop Sephora’s Collection inspired by the color of the year. Though the key hue of the line is very dominant (and powerful since it marries “the vivaciousness and adrenalin of rush red with the friendliness and warmth of yellow”), it still can be combined with other colours in a make-up. On its website, Sephora explains how to mix and match the shades to create a truly hilarious and groundbreaking look.
“As the world’s color authority for nearly 50 years, partnering with a world-renowned beauty retailer like Sephora just made sense. Together we bring fashion-forward color trends, innovative marketing and technology know-how to beauty customers, instilling the confidence and creativity to choose cosmetic colors that suit their every mood,” commented Lisa Herbert, Vice President of the Consumer Products Division at Pantone.

To promote the new collection, Sephora launched interactive Pop-Up Color Shop inspired by the Pantone Color Fan, which will be open from March 21 through March 30 in NYC and from March 18 through April 22 in LA. Visitors to the store will receive personalized application and color advice that will help them create an unforgettable look. The new line is promoted with striking images of by celebrated fashion and beauty photographer David Sims (they are featured in the pop-up store and online). The partnership will extend beyond the spring collection—Sephora will also produce seasonal and holiday product collections, to put the tangerine color in various contexts.
