Skype is Going HD

Skype is making its video calls yet smoother, as the latest beta version of Skype for Windows now supports HD-quality video (1280 x 720 resolution at up to 30 frames per second), which provides a perfect picture.

The new equipment for this is going to appear in stores soon. The upcoming web cameras are supporting the new quality and are totally optimized for the new characteristics. The Internet company wants to distribute its new devices through its online shops as well as offline stores.

Skype also commissioned LG and Panasonic with a task to create Skype-enabled TVs, and the new devices will be available to purchase in spring 2010. Surely, they will support the HD as well. The details of the concept are still kept under wraps, but the idea itself is revolutionary.
