Skype, which enables people communicate with each other without any borders, has also made a lot to foster spreading of the best education practices across the globe. In 2010, the VoIP giant teamed up with the Peace One Day organization dedicated to promoting non-violence in all its forms to create the Global Education Resource for teachers. Now, the company is calling global community to contribute to the project via the Skype for Peace crowd-funding campaign. “All funds raised through this initiative will be used to get the Peace One Day Global Education Resource in the hands of more teachers around the world,” says the brand in its blogpost.

For every dollar donated to support the project Skype will give another dollar (up to $100,000)—the minimum amount is $10 (for this you will be featured in the Hall of Donors) and the maximum is $40 (it buys you a place in the Hall plus a DVD with “The Day After Peace” documentary and enables you to enter a sweepstakes for a chance to receive a Skype call with Jeremy Gilley, founder of Peace One Day, who will thank you personally). Of course, Skype doesn’t limit your generosity to $40—it encourages people to donate as much as they want. It also says that “the highest donor will meet Jeremy live and receive round-trip airfare to London, hotel accommodation chosen by Skype for the duration of the visit (no more than three days) and a $150 per day stipend for meals and expenses.” The initiative, which was launched on September 21, Peace Day, will continue through November 21, and the results of the crow-funding effort will be announced on November 27, a national day of giving in the USA.
“Peace One Day believes young people are the key to creating a peaceful and sustainable world. We are very excited to join Skype and Microsoft in the ‘Skype for Peace’ crowd-funding program to reach a global audience of students and mobilize a generation of young people in support of peace,” commented Jeremy Gilley.
In addition to this effort revolving around frosting educational process, Microsoft and Peace One Day have teamed up to launch the Spark Peace Movement, encouraging young people to get funding for their projects, which promote peace in their communities.
