Starbucks opens its first UK coffee shop with completely new interiors. London was chosen to be the first city to see the new concept of coffee-shops’ insides. The new style is to be light and cozy, and reflect the surrounding area.
The new stores’ concept is meant to be completely unique, as the design is adjusted to the place and local traditions. The one in London has wood panelling, old picture frames and proves to be as comfortable as the customers’ own living room. According to Starbucks’ global design senior vice-president Tim Pfeiffer, this styling is ‘a huge leap forward in coffee-house design’. The wave of renewal will roll out gradually in the UK and all over the globe.
The first new outlet has Starbucks’ original logo, which was used by the first coffee-shop in Seattle, back in 1971. The emblem is featuring a 16th-century Norse woodcut mermaid with the store’s original name, Starbucks Coffee, Tea, and Spice, around her.
