Starbucks coffee chain in UK decided to partner with (RED), the Global Fund organization in rendering support to AIDS fight campaigns in Africa. The company created the (Starbucks) RED Card and is going to make it come in use soon. The idea is that every time the customers take and use the (RED) card at participating coffee-shop outlets, Starbucks will give 5p to the Global Fund.
Starbucks has also came up with an idea of the (Starbucks) RED Tumbler, and they will give £3 to the Global Fund every time this container is bought. When the customers use their registered (RED) card, they will be able to have free in-store wi-fi, and when they re-use the tumbler, they will pay less for it.
The initiative starts tomorrow, November 4. The USA and Canada’s Starbucks launched a similar campaign in 2008.
