Last year, in support of the 63rd Annual Cannes Film Festival Stella Artois, the official sponsor of the event, was running a charming campaign revolving around ‘mysterious disappearance’ of Jacques d’Azur, the ‘King of Cannes’, under which they were on the lookout for a rightful heir of the man (and finally found one). This time, ahead of the 64th Festival de Cannes, Stella Artois is going to bring the international playboy back through cinematography, and so the brand is giving its fans a unique opportunity to star as Jacques d’Azur in a short film about his life.
Those who are 25+ and believe they have enough charisma, charm and talent to become the heartbreaker in the biopic, are encouraged to create their audition tapes on the contest’s page castingcall.stellaartois.com. To participate, budding movie stars are to act before their web-camera with a microphone—they are to print out the script and read the lines while their acting is being recorded online (the footage is ‘inserted’ into the rest of the film, which already features the leading lady’s scenes). The brand is also inviting women of 25+ to enter for a chance to play the supporting role in the short film (they have other scenes to act in). The prize is the roles plus a trip for two to Cannes, a stay in Jacques’ suite at the Carlton hotel, dinning at his favourite restaurants as well as invitations to the exclusive after parties during May 11-15. Men of 21-24 also can enter to win the same trip barring the role.
The submission period is running from March 1 to March 31—there will be both public voting (to shortlist 100 hundred finalists) and selection by the panel of judges (who will choose other 100 finalists). The winners will be determined by the experts and announced on or about April 11. The final version of Stella Artois short movie will be screened at Cannes Film Festival 2011.
