Stella Artois Launches the Cannes Cinema Club on Facebook

As a long-time sponsor of the Cannes Film Festival, each spring Stella Artois launches a new activity dedicated to the major film event. Earlier this month, the lager brand offered its UK consumers an opportunity to watch a film online by entering a code from a promotional pack, and now it’s inviting its fans from around the globe to visit the virtual Stella Artois Cannes Cinema Club, which is “designed to support exceptional cinema, provide unique cinematic experiences and ultimately keep the sophistication and beauty of cinema alive.”

The digital club is launched on the Stella Artois Facebook fan-page a few weeks before the launch of the 65th Cannes Film Festival (May 16-27) and offers a range of unique film experiences. Visitors to the hub are able to watch classic and modern films online as part of the above-mentioned on-pack promotion (they can find a direct link there), as well as play the ‘What film is she’ game, and they will also be invited to cinema screenings across Picturehouse locations in the UK in May. The initiative will be not limited to the festival period and will last until the end of the year, providing Stella Artois and cinema fans with an access to exclusive film premieres and Q&A events.

As part of the Stella Artois Cannes Cinema Club initiative, the brand will also launch an application for iPhone and Android phones, which will help film lovers get a deeper incite in the cinema life around them. With the app, created in partnership with by Little White Lies, users will be available to find out which films are in cinemas in their area, read reviews on the latest movies and buy tickets.

“As a long-standing supporter of great film, Stella Artois is proud to once again be an official partner of the Cannes Film Festival. In addition to the unique experiences we’re creating at Cannes, we’re thrilled to be able bring the spirit of Cannes to the UK with our exclusive series of film partnerships, experiences and content,” commented James Watson, Marketing Director, Stella Artois Western Europe.
