Facebook strives to make its platform as advertiser-friendly as possible. The social media giant has launched a new conversion measurement and optimization feature, which is specifically designed for direct response marketers. The new tool, rolled out globally, will help make the advertising on the platform more relevant and tailored to the target audience by tracking the performance of the ads on Facebook pages.

Facebook has announced Graph Search, which is designed to help users of the social network No.1 find information within the site. Facebook says it has over than 240 billion photos and more than a trillion connections, created by more than million of its users, and Graph Search is “a new way to navigate these connections and make them more useful.” The new tool, which was introduced on February 15, is now in beta and is available for a limited preview only in English.

While one may anticipate some new ‘surprises’ from Facebook this year, such as intrusive video ads, blunt suggestions to make a gift or even more irrelevant sponsored posts in a newsfeed, instead the social networking site is testing a new paid service allowing users to send direct messages to those who are not on their friend list.

2013 is to be the year of live (or almost live) streams of events on social media platforms, and the first show to get the maximum digital presence with a live touch is the London three-day showcase of autumn/winter 2013 men’s collections from British designers starting today, January 7. On its official website, the British Fashion Council (BFC) notes that Men AW 2013 is providing a new opportunity “to unite fashion and digital innovation, encouraging engagement with the menswear showcase through social media, live streaming and digital presentations.”
