The Nike brand, which is well-known for producing high-quality professional sport gear and apparel for everyday athletes, has presented two adverts celebrating free moves. The two videos are dedicated to people whose motto is ‘Life is motion,’ and they never miss an opportunity to prove it. The videos, masterminded by Nike’s long-standing partner Wieden+Kennedy Portland agency, features dozens of people, who are demonstrating their very best moves in multiple sport disciplines or everyday life.

The hilarious series of viral spots featuring Isaiah Mustafa who promoted Old Spice shower gel scooped a plethora of industry awards (including the Grand Prix for film at the Cannes Lions International Advertising Festival) last year and helped the 7-decade old brand double the sales. The ‘The Man Your Man Could Smell Like’ commercials as well as the answer videos on YouTube were extremely popular, and when the brand said that Isaiah had left the campaign, at heart people believed that the Old Spice Guy would be back. And he has done it. Old Spice and Wieden+Kennedy Portland, the agency behind the campaign, announced the return of the much-loved Guy, who will be featured in new adverts to air the day after the Super Bowl.

The brands which know secrets of viral advertising win people’s hearts. This year, the range of public favorites included know-all Isaiah Mustafa holding a bottle of Old Spice shower gel, a guy in Levi’s jeans who embarked on a trip across America, sport celebrities commissioned by Nike to star in spots about their future and many more. Let’s look back to explore which videos, to our mind, were the most contagious this year.

With less than 20 days left until Christmas, brands are presenting their own versions of the iconic ‘Jingle Bells’ carol, and each of them adds something special to the well-known song. Guinness GB teamed up with famous British ‘electro folk’ musician James Yuill to update the classical tune by playing on Guinness pint glasses in a pub. ‘Jingle Pints,’ the contemporary version of the 150-year old festive hit, can be heard in a new viral video, which was filmed between the musician’s Indonesian and South American trips.

Listening to Radio 5 Live’s breakfast show the other week I heard for the first time the sober thoughts of Mervyn King, Governor of the Bank of England. Apparently the next decade will not be ‘nice’ (non-inflationary consistent expansion) and that after years of binging it’s now time for us all to sober up (savings, orderly budgets, and equitable rebalancing). It was of course refreshing to hear something other than the Wayne Rooney, ‘is he, isn’t he’ staying at Man U soap opera Mervyn doesn’t exactly inspire you to throw the duvet off and rush into work!

Subaru has launched a little weird still very funny campaign with a lot of “wonderfully conservative” beige cars, which are nothing like the new 2011 Subaru Legacy model, promoted through this marketing push. The new viral campaign, dubbed «2011 Mediocrity,» is telling about a fake company which is producing the most ho-hum vehicles in the world, which are able to blend in with everything around.

Samsung collaborated with The Viral Factory to develop two projects, revolving around durability of the manufacturer’s SD memory cards. The first one is a promotional film, which proves that the product is ‘magnet-proof, shockproof and waterproof’ by testing it in the harshest environments imaginable, and the second one is an unprecedented initiative, under which the cards will be send into the stratosphere.

Samsung has created a new viral video, which focuses equally on the brand’s products and on music. The company teamed up with OK, a popular viral band with a plethora of fans, to help them create a new clip for their single «Last Leaf,» from the album «Colour Of The Blue Of The Sky» using its new camera Samsung NX100. Along with the new video, they launched an interactive online hub and a series of 5 episodes describing how the clip was made and inspiring others to make their own crazy things just like they did.

Carlsberg has launched an ‘educating’ campaign titled “Where’s the Party?” for young Swedes, targeting guys, which explains how to party and find a girl. The beer brand launched a series of short advisory videos on YouTube and TV ads to provide the younger generation of men some with tips, which will help them become outrageously successful with the opposite sex.

Less than a week ago the Old Spice Guy ‘resigned’ from the award winning “questions and answers” Weiden+Kennedy campaign, which helped the brand’s body wash product to achieve 107% sales increase in the past month. This success was a real temptation for other brands, even those not related to the toiletry market. Willing to get a piece of this fame,  Cisco released its own series of web-episodes, where a nerdy man standing in the same bathroom as Isaiah Mustafa, was answering questions from Twitter users.
