The companies are investing around £15 million into The App Campus that start developing the new apps in May 2012. According to the companies the program is expected to “foster the creation of innovative mobile applications for the Windows Phone ecosystem, and in addition, Nokia platforms, including Symbian and Series 40”.

Successful participants will receive support, training in mobile technology, design and usability, and money to create innovative new mobile apps and services.

The Aalto University Center for Entrepreneurship that lists Stanford University among its partners will host the Campus. The Aalto University filed 20 patents last year and hopes to strengthen its global network by partnering with Nokia and Microsoft.

Currently, Nokia is developing its first tablet on the basis of Windows 8.

Microsoft has also recently teamed up with West Coast Customs to create a Microsoft-powered concept car Ford Mustang, reports PSFK. Dubbed as ‘Project Detroit’ and nicknamed as the ‘Micro-Stang,’ the 2012 car remake of the Ford Mustang 1967 features a variety of built-in apps and devices including the Xbox 360 and Kinect, Windows 8, Windows Phone, Windows Azure, Bing, Ford Sync and more.
