WWF calls aspiring UK artists and designers to create posters for the Earth Hour 2014

WWF has teamed up with the Do The Green Thing online platform of creative “green” ideas to get UK artists celebrating Earth Hour 2014 with their artworks. The environmental organization is inviting UK young creatives to contribute to the global movement and get their work featured among the 29 pieces by professional poster artists. The national competition in support of the WWF’s Earth Hour, marked on March 29 next year, will be held in cooperation with Pentagram Design.

The UK residents aged 16-25—graphic designers, illustrators, painters, photographers and product designers—are invited to submit their work. Their pieces are to revolve around the sustainable lifestyle and nature conservation—they can focus on a range of topics like energy saving (the major action on Earth Hour), water consumption, buying less, recycling, walking and cycling more instead of driving, etc.

The six finalists will be invited to reach and collaborate with professional designers at Pentagram Design Studios in London on January 22 before submitting their poster for a public vote in February. The audience will select three winners whose works will be featured in advertising campaign supporting Earth Hour in March 2014.

The submissions should be 1475 x 2003 pixels wide,  JPEG or PNG up to 2MB in size. In the brief, entrants can also find a list of eco-focused things to highlight in their works. Each submission should be accompanied with a brief description, up to 1000 characters. The competition closes on January 13, 2014.
