The book of 192 pages is the first-ever big illustrated timeline that visualizes the history of impressive BMW’s cars redesigned with an artistic twist. The long-term collaborative initiative started back in 1975 with a BMW 3.0 CSL customized by Alexander Calder, who was invited for the project by the art and auto racing enthusiast Hervé Poulain.

Other pieces from the collection include contributions from Frank Stella (1976), Roy Lichtenstein (1977), Andy Warhol (1979), Robert Rauschenberg (1986), Ken Done (1989), Matazo Kayama (1990), A. R. Penck (1991), Esther Mahlangu (1991), Sandro Chia (1992), David Hockney (1995), Olafur Eliasson (2007), Jeff Koons (2010) and many more. In general, there are 17 BMW Art Cars created within the past four decades.

The illustrated book will arrive on June 30, and it can be pre-ordered now via Amazon for $37.21.
