BMW and London’s Tate art gallery announce the program for 2013 BMW Tate Live. Started last year, BMW Tate Live is an international four-year creative partnership, which focuses on performance and interdisciplinary art in the gallery and online and aims to bring a new artistic developments to art lovers across the globe. The 2013 program includes two major pillars, BMW Tate Live: Performance Events (free and ticketed life performances within actual spaces) and BMW Tate Live: Performance Room (live performances hosted exclusively for online streaming for intentional viewers simultaneously). Plus, they will throw BMW Tate Live: Thought Workshops, which will include a range of participatory discussions.

This year the disciplines will include dance, film and other art forms, which will be explored by artists through their diverse performances. This year’s program kicks off on February 3 with Suzanne Lacy “Silver Action,” “a new participatory artwork by artist Suzanne Lacy that deals with two key themes in public discourse—ageing and activism.” The BMW Tate Live Performance Room is created here, on Tate’s YouTube channel, and on the specified dates it will broadcast performances at the same moment (but at different time, due to the time difference) across the globe—at 20.00 hrs in the UK, 16.00 hrs on the East Coast of America, 21.00 hrs in mainline Europe and 23.00 hrs in Russia. BMW and Tate also engage the audience by asking viewers to discuss the performances and post their questions for the artist or curator on Tate’s social media channels, twitter.com/tate using #BMWTateLive and facebook.com/tategallery.
