Coca-Cola Announced 15 Winners of Mobile App Contest

Today Coca-Cola announced the names of 15 finalists of its 2011 Brand App challenge. In course of the contest, developers had to create mobile apps for Coca-Cola, Coke Zero and Diet Coke. 

The winning applications created some perks or advantage to the consumer. One of them, ‘Happiness Playlist’ by Mike VanBeneden, makes of songs on an iPhone and then spots other users via Facebook who added the same songs to their Happiness Playlists.

Another application by Spanish company Mobext dubbed ‘Happiness Is Everywhere’, uses augmented reality to mark ‘Happiness Places’ around the globe. When the mobile device (iPhone or Android-based one) points to this place, the user is awarded with ‘iBottles’ that can be exchanged for perks like contents and coupons.

The first prize winners will be announced during GSMA Mobile World Congress that will be held on February 14 to 17 in Barcelona. The best apps will be selected by the managers of the three brands of Coca-Cola portfolio. Each of three winners will receive a prize of $10,000.

The contest was announced by Coca-Cola on November 26, 2010.
