Follow up: Old Spice Welcomes Mustafa back and PUMA Sings an Anthem

Last week, Old Spice launched a spinoff of its hilarious ‘Be Like a Man, Man’ campaign, introducing a new spokeshunk, 50-something Fabio, who came to replace the hilarious Old Spice Guy, Isaiah Mustafa for a short period, while he is busy in Hollywood. Procter& Gamble stated that the previous, much-loved character will return, but the audience didn’t expect that it’ll happen so soon (yet, he was battling with the newcomer online on Twitter since the launch of the new phase).

Fabio, who started to respond to tweets just like his predecessor was doing last year, has invited the old Old Spice Guy to a duel—the challenge is accepted, and the two mascots will ‘fight’ at noon today, July 26, “live at Internet Stadium” (it is sure to be covered on their YouTube-channels, www.youtube.com/user/newoldspiceguyfabio and www.youtube.com/oldspice). Mano a Mano in el Baño will show which of the men is the real king of the campaign, devised by Wieden+Kennedy Portland,—with the numerous awards and international recognition (it scooped Cannes Cyber Lions Grand Prix), this marketing effort seems to be just endless, since it pulls the right emotional strings and do make people’s brain chuckle.

Another campaign, After Hours Athlete by PUMA, which also scooped a number of awards at Cannes Lions for its hilarious spot, is continuing with a new commercial dubbed ‘Pump up’. In the ad, which is also created by Droga5 New York, semi-professional young athletes are playing bowling, darts and other in-door games in clubs, celebrating the spirit of the brand and non-Olympic ways of socializing to the ‘Everywhere We Go’ soundtrack.
