IKEA Celebrates Partying in Kitchens

IKEA UK is moving from kittens to kitchens—soon after the launch of its feline TV-ad, the global furniture and household goods retailer has released a gorgeous commercial based on Jona Lewie’s 1980-hit “You’ll Always Find Me In The Kitchen At Parties” refreshed by a promising UK group Man Like Me and remixed by producer Arthur Baker as the soundtrack of the advert. The new spot is all about kitchens of all kinds and styles, which are good for various parties, no matter how extravagant they might be.

The new commercial by Mother is created in two versions, the 60-second TV one to be launched on ITV during “The X Factor” ad break on October 9, and the 3-minute one for YouTube. During the ad, two guys are going from party to party singing a nice song of a man who couldn’t find a girl-friend and always sat in kitchens at parties, but eventually managed to find himself a date and now enjoys music and dancing just like the others. The original performer of the song, Jona Lewie, is also featured in the spot.

The video went live yesterday, October 7, on IKEA’s YouTube channel. Soon, the viewers of the advert will be able to click on the items showcased there and be directed directly to the IKEA’s kitchen site to purchase them. The music track can be downloaded for £0.69 from Amazon or for £0.79 from iTunes.
