Nestlé Professional Educates Aspiring UK and Ireland Chefs

When you eat out, the environment of the space and cooking service is as much important as the quality of food. Nestlé Professional, the Nestlé business that supplies the food and beverage service out-of-home industry, has committed to help younger generation of chiefs learn more about nutrition through the new interactive programme ‘Toque d’Or NHW,’ which is available for the United Kingdom and Ireland aspiring professionals.

The new online course, which can be accessed here, aims to help “catering college students learn about healthy eating and drinking, energy and nutrients, nutrition needs, and diets and lifestyle.” To develop the program, Nestlé Professional partnered with the British Nutrition Foundation. The course, which is free for the first 500 places and costs £10 per student for the rest, will be available through July 2012. It consists of six modules, which are good both for individual learning and teaching classes—the modules take only 30 minutes to complete and after that, students will be able to take a short test, if they want it. Those, who will complete the tests, are to receive a British Nutrition Foundation certificate.

There’s no escaping the fundamental need for everyone working in the industry to have at the very least a basic understanding of nutrition, health and wellness,” said Neil Stephens, Country Business Manager of Nestlé Professional in the UK and Ireland. “The healthy eating trend has been gaining momentum over recent years. Nestlé Professional is committed to encouraging the development of students’ skills in this area.”
