Pepsi Rolls out a New Star-studded Ad

Extending its global ‘Live For Now’ campaign, Pepsi has tapped chart-topping pop stars One Direction and NFL legend Drew Brees to feature in its new 30-second ad.

The ad titled ‘Showdown’ demonstrates a head-to-head competition between Brees and One Direction who met in the green room of a fictitious TV talk show. They compete to prove who truly deserves a can of Pepsi more. The ad will debut on Pepsi social media channels and will air through the MLB Playoffs, World Series, NFL season and The X Factor—the perfect platforms for reaching Pepsi’s young audience.

The new extension of the campaign will include television ads and digital content, which was produced by TBWA/Chiat Day, directed by Baker Smith and put to One Direction’s chart-topping single ‘Live While We’re Young.’

«Music and sports are at the core of the Pepsi DNA,» said Angelique Krembs, VP Marketing, Pepsi. «This campaign brings together iconic figures from both of those worlds in a fun and memorable way that only Pepsi could deliver.»

Pepsi fans that use the popular Shazam app will be able to view exclusive content and get a link to iTunes to buy the One Direction’s new single featured in the ad.
