Stella Artois held an international competition World Draught Master’2009 in New York and named the best specialists in pouring beer. Usually the contest is arranged in Belgium, but for this time the Big Apple was chosen to become the host city.
32 bartenders from around the globe were trying their best to prove their skills. The 7-hour event took place on October 29 and included three rounds of playoffs. Stella Artois brewmaster Paul Vandewalle and 2008 year’s Draught Master champion were among the honored jury. The guests of the contest could have an exquisite meal and see a specially created Stella Artois beer glass created by fashion designer Tim Hamilton, which was handed to the winner.
The competition included showing skills on several key stages in serving beer: “The Purification”, “The Sacrifice”, “The Beheading” and “The Judgement” as the key ones and another 5 ones. The contestant had to try hard as each stage was decisive.
The show was full of dramatic moments, gorgeous surprises for the public and lots of great emotions. The top-ten included 6 women and one of nice ladies, Avril Maxwell from New Zealand, won the race. Next year she is going to visit lots of countries and share her professional secrets.
