Adidas marks FIFA 2014 opening by giving away brazucas to newly borns in Brazil

Adidas, one of the official FIFA partners, is celebrating the launch of the 2014 World Cup Brazil ball, brazuca, with a nice promotion “Eu sou brazuca” (“I am brazuca”) that reaches… new-borns. The sportswear and gear brand is giving away the ball to the parents of children born today, December 3—the day of the 2014 FIFA launch.

As part of the promotion that is built on the famous proverb “All Brazilian children are born with a football at their feet,” adidas Brazil will give a brazuca ball to all parents who show the birth certificate that proves that their baby is born on December 3, 2013. It can be also purchased globally starting December 4 in select adidas retail outlets, associated stockists and online.

The balls will be distributed for two days, 6-7 December, at special points in a number of the 12 FIFA World Cup host cities around Brazil, including Brasília, Rio de Janeiro, São Paulo and more. In fact, the balls can be received not only by parents, but also by family members and friends of family—they just have to show a valid birth certificate with the correspondent date.

The brazuca ball will be officially unveiled today evening—there will be a grandiose 3D light show at the iconic Parque Lage in Rio de Janeiro to celebrate the arrival of the new match ball. The name of the ball was chosen in September 2012, supported by a public vote in Brazil that involved 1 million football fans. The name “brazuca” is an informal word that means “Brazilian” or describes the Brazilian way of life.
