Burger King Announced the Winner of the 2010 BK Next Best Move National Basketball Tour

Burger King Corp. finished its Next Best MoveSM five-month, 41-city national tour, which provided non-professional athletes across the country with the opportunity to showcase their skills on the basketball court and highlight the impact they are making in their cities through community service.

BKC kicked off its first-ever BK Next Best Move tour in February 2010, headlined by reality TV star Syrus Yarborough, with stops in urban communities around the nation in search of the Next Best Move both on the court and in community service. Individuals were asked to show off their best moves on the court when the tour visited their city or submit a video on www.thenextbestmove.com.

Visitors to the online destination could vote for their favorites on the website, and one semi-finalist in each market went on to compete against top-ranked players across the U.S. for $10,000 and a chance to be featured in a basketball lifestyle magazine or on the website. Excited fans from all over the country sent in their votes and crowned Shane Wise of Warrensburg, Missouri the winner of the competition.

The Next Best Move Crew was also searching for great moves off the court. Visitors to www.thenextbestmove.com could share how they are “changing the game” through community service and encouraging others to do the same.

The project’s website site became fans’ link to the action as Syrus and the Next Best Move Crew travel from market to market. Visitors to the hub could get involved in the experience by reading the Crew’s blogs and viewing exclusive behind-the-scenes video highlights. Fans could even engage their friends by sharing videos via social media outlets such as MySpace, Facebook and Twitter.

«BK Next Best Move was the biggest tour in the history of the Burger King brand and provided consumers with broad-based access to not only what is happening in the basketball world, but also in urban communities across the U.S.,» said Patricia Trevino, director, promotions and multicultural marketing, BKC. «We recognize the importance of giving back and this tour was the ideal opportunity for us to showcase our community service initiatives in each of the participating cities
