With Christmas and all the festive dinners being over, people want to get skinny and fit to meet the summer season in their perfect shape. Beverage brands are here to help consumers to reach this goal with their low calorie drinks—yesterday, we announced the new round of Diet Coke’s campaign, and now another diet product comes up: Diet Pepsi is releasing a new spot featuring actress Sofia Vergara, who starred with English soccer legend David Beckham in the previous commercial of the brand last spring. The new advert will debut on the 69th annual Golden Globes awards show on January 15, 2012, and now fans of Diet Pepsi and Modern Family star can watch a teaser of the commercial. “Our consumers really connect with Sofia Vergara, and they enjoyed last year’s spot with David Beckham so much that we wanted to build on the storyline. The great lengths our star will go to get a refreshing Diet Pepsi brings our message to light in a fun, uplifting way,” shared Amy Wirtanen, Senior Director Pepsi Beverages Corporation. The U.S. campaign, which will start with the official launch of the full-length version of the ad, also includes new print, digital and out-of-home ads.

In the ad, which was directed by Terminator Salvation director McG and choreographed by Mark Ballas. a professional ballroom dancer on the Dancing with the Stars TV-show, Sophia is dancing her way past hot men in a Miami nightclub to reach a can of Diet Coke and get a chance to sip the soda through a straw. The soundtrack of the ad, which comes with the ‘Nothing Refreshes Like a Diet Pepsi’ tagline, is a fresh rendition of the ‘Whatever Lola Wants’ hit—the new version is performed by Ruby Stewart, Rod Stewart‘s daughter.

“I love our new Diet Pepsi campaign. It is amazing, this commercial is 100% fun. I had a blast dancing and enjoying great music in great company, all in a cool night club, fue lo maximo!  I can’t wait for audiences to see it,” commented  Sofia Vergara, who has been face and body of Diet Coke for the second year running.
