Guinness Is Eying World Record This St. Patrick’s Day

The Guinness beer brand is encouraging public around the globe to show their love of the Ireland’s national holiday St. Patrick’s Day (which is known and celebrated outside the country as well) and help the brand to set a new Guinness World Record on March 17. It’s not the first time when brands are calling their fans to help them achieve big goals—last year, Oreo gathered most Facebook likes for one post in 24 hours and Lynx ‘hosted’ the most massive simultaneous shower-taking event. Just like the cookies brand, Guinness is also using its digital hubs, the brand’s Facebook page and www.Guinness.com, to gather the most people possible for ‘The Largest St. Patrick’s Day Celebration.’

Every year, St. Patrick’s Day is celebrated by millions of people all around the world as a special occasion infused with the true spirit of Ireland—it has become the perfect opportunity to get together with friends, raise a pint of Guinness responsibly and enjoy one of the greatest days of the year,» says Fergal Murray, Master Brewer of Guinness. Those, who want to participate in this effort, are invited to the brand’s fan page on FB or Guinness official website to make an online pledge—they will receive a participation certificate. To make the effort yet more appealing to users, the brand offers them an opportunity to win a trip for two to Dublin where they’ll be able to visit the Guinness Storehouse plus will be invited to Arthur’s Day concerts and festivities to be held this September.

To make sure that these people are really celebrating the holiday, Guinness World Records representatives will arrive to the locations where the St. Patrick’s Day parties will be hosted, count the guests and verify the number of pledges made online. The Guinness beer brand is hoping to set two records at a time, Most pledges received for a campaign and the Largest St. Patrick’s Day Celebration.
