McDonald’s Focuses on Farming

The biggest fast-food chain, McDonald’s, has launched an ad campaign revolving around British farming to demonstrate the public that all the ingredients for their products are natural and fresh.

The first step in the promotion is a new commercial, which was created in Derbyshire, Cumbria and Staffordshire at some of the farm locations supplying the venues with first-rate organic products. This spot, developed by Leo Burnett, comes as a part of the “That’s What Makes McDonald’s” campaign and features huge icons symbolizing different weather conditions: giant rain-drops, snow-flakes, sun, “mist”, lightning, and clouds.

To prove that these organic farms are not fictional, the chain has invited some people, selected via the corporate website, to come and visit some of the UK and Ireland farming locations, which are the main sources of high quality food for the chain.

«With this commercial we honour two things which are unmistakably British: unpredictable weather and first-rate farming. This is the next chapter in our ongoing campaign to drive awareness of the care and attention that our supply chain puts into producing McDonald’s food,» stated Jill McDonald, chief marketing officer for the UK and Northern Europe.

The new promotion is dedicated to the company’s London 2012 Olympic Games sponsorship, which was announced about two month ago.
