MySpace Has Launched In-Stream Advertising

MySpace is becoming more advertizer-friendly. The social networks began testing a new in-stream ad unit, which helps promote brands by information boxes which appear in the personal stream of users if they agree to read ad posts. The texting period started on February 10 with Coca-Cola’s invitation to download Formula For Happiness Selena Gomez’s song «Naturally» for free.

Procter & Gamble joined in with its promotional campaign for Scope Outlast mouthwash and a free Crest Extra White Plus Scope Outlast Toothpaste, which were offered to women. The web-service is positioned as a virtual place where users can share the most interesting and useful information with each other, and with the new service the brand becomes one of the “friends.”

Now MySpace is gaining popularity and has 69.7 million users. In the recent two month the number of uniques on the site increased and it managed to fight the stagnation. Still, it can’t reach the over one hundred million users level of Facebook.
