Nestlé Nespresso Flows Naturally along World Class Gastronomy Movement

Silvio Galizzi will bring his culinary creativity and know-how to the Nespresso Atelier de Création during the prestigious Bocuse d’Or Europe event.

Geneva, Switzerland — Nestlé Nespresso S.A., the worldwide pioneer and reference for highest quality portioned coffee, is delighted to share its commitment to excellence and passion for taste and flavour with over 400 of the world’s most renowned chefs and culinary experts. From June 6th to 8th, Nespresso will be an official partner of the second edition of the Bocuse d’Or Europe, taking place in Geneva, Switzerland.

As part of this prestigious gastronomic event, involving 20 chefs from 20 different countries going head-to-head in Geneva for their chance to compete in the world finals in Lyon in January 2011, Nespresso will conduct an Atelier de Création with the guidance of a Swiss chef, Silvio Galizzi, awarded with a Michelin star and a grade of 17/20 from the Gault&Millau guide. Mr.Galizzi followed the Nespresso Chef Academy Program where he worked closely with the Nespresso Coffee and Sensory Experts to create his Grand Cru Menu.

The Nespresso Atelier de Création is a meeting point for culinary professionals and chefs, allowing them to discover how a Nespresso Grand Cru can be interpreted and applied in a surprising yet delightful context. For this workshop, Nespresso is delighted to partner with Silvio Galizzi for his exceptional culinary expertise but also for his taste for adventure. Mr. Galizzi will use the two days during the event to demonstrate how a Nespresso Grand Cru coffee can be interpreted according to his particular taste and sensibility. Silvio Galizzi opted for the Espresso Forte from the wide range of Nespresso Grand Cru coffees, as he considered this particular Grand Cru to be an obvious choice for the strong “Italian-ness» that he likes. He set about experimenting with recipes that treat coffee as an ingredient in and of itself and he will reveal his creations at the event.




With its signature Grand Cru coffees, Nespresso demonstrates a commitment to taste, to flavour and to the kind of aromatic intensity that transforms the coffee experience into a moment of pure indulgence. It is coffee’s destiny to play a greater role in gastronomy, and with that goal in mind, Nespresso has created a «Chef Academy.» Every facet of coffee is studied, in the way that an oenological academy teaches about vintages and organoleptic properties as well as wine stewardship.

Due to the many parallels between coffee and wine, it was a very natural step to match the expertise of gastronomy and wine professionals with the expertise of coffee professionals. Therefore Nespresso created the Coffee Sommelier Program, a completely new type of educational program, catering to professional wine sommeliers. Its goal: to broaden their knowledge and understanding of the coffee universe, and to adapt their sensory background to the world of gourmet coffees. For the first time during the Bocuse d’Or 2010, renowned Sommelier Giuseppe Vaccarini and Nespresso Coffee Sensory Expert Edouard Thomas, will propose three workshops, in order to develop the harmonies of coffee with water, chocolate and liqueurs.
