Sprite Slam Dunk’s Rap Commercials

Sprite is sponsoring one of the brightest events in the American basketball, the Slam Dunk game, which is taking place on February 13. In two weeks 2009 Sprite Slam Dunk champion Nate Robinson of the New York Knicks will attempt to become the first three-time winner of the competition. The Coca-Cola brand has shot three TV-sport to support the event.

The last year’s champion will defend his title, competing against the Charlotte Bobcats’ Gerald Wallace, the Los Angeles Lakers’ Shannon Brown and either the Raptors’ DeMar DeRozan or the Clippers’ Eric Gordon in the Sprite Slam Dunk. The way to promote the event is rather conventional, but still very cute and charming. The commercials made by the BBH agency, New York, feature youngsters speaking in the rap style about basketball and the event taking place in February.

On the site of the sport competition visitor can read theme-related news and play a game, becoming one of the three sportsmen and then testing their sport skills.

On the whole the style of the spots doesn’t seem to be kept within the Sprite’s strategy, and reminds Nike’s one more. Watch the videos.
