Mountain Dew and Robert Rodriguez seeking for “passionate” video content

Mountain Dew has teamed up with acclaimed film director Robert Rodriguez for its Green Label Studios: Open Call project that invites aspiring filmmakers to win a production grant of $250,000. This money will be used by the winner to develop content for Green-Label.com, the youth culture-themed online platform launched by Mountain Dew and Complex Media back in spring 2013.

The submission period runs through April 25 on www.Green-Label.com. Entrants are invited to share their videos, which revolve around the “Do the DEW” theme and celebrate their passions. The entries will be reviewed and judged by a panel of experts from the Mountain Dew and Green-Label.com editorial teams. They will shortlist 10 finalists, each of them getting a $10,000 production grant to shoot a stunning clip for DEW. Their films will be screened before the judges in summer in NYC.

The overall winner will walk away with a $250,000 production grant to develop truly valuable content for the DEW’s youth-themed lifestyle platform. In addition, she or he will get an opportunity to be mentored by Robert Rodriguez as well as film and television writer and producer Roberto Orci.

“I believe that each of us has a story to tell—and that inspiration and the ability to tell those stories creatively can spark in anyone, at any time,” commented Robert Rodriquez at a Green Label Studios event at SXSW. “I’m excited to partner with DEW to give professional and aspiring storytellers and creators a creative outlet to share with us their stories.”
